The effect of the roll-groove profile on the cross-sectional shape of the tube at the exit of the roll-bite and on thedistribution of pressure acting on the tube surface wasinvestigated through rolling experiments with a single-standmodel mill and calculations using the rigid-plastic FEM. Theroll-groove profile was evaluated with the DR- #theta#diagram,where D_R (R –R_G)/R_G and #theta# is the angle from thegroove center, R is the distance from the pass center to the rollsurface at #theta# and R_G is the distance from the pass centerto the groove center. The results are as follows. (1) When D_Rat the roll flange is small, the flange diameter and peripherallength along the inner surface of the tube decrease and thicknessat the tube flange increases. (2) Elongation mainly depends onD_R at the groove center. (3) When D_R at the roll flange issmall, the pressure acting on the tube surface contacting with theroll flange increases.
