ALS demonstrated an automatic roll slitter with a new iPad/iPhone/PC monitoring system. There was great interest in this new technology using a network connection the company was able to access the ALS Control Screen and PLC. The machinecould be run, the screens and programs changed - all remotely via Wi-Fi, "The only thing 1 couldn't do was change the roll," says Spencer Lack. There are two main advantages of the system. Customers are able to log into the screen from their desk PC and view what program is in operation, how many rolls slit, how many to go and who is running the machine. ALS can connect for fault finding, diagnostics and programme upgrades etc.
