Iranian slab producers managed to expand presence substantially in the global market over the past few years, especiallyin Asia, being cost competitive and having sufficient quantity to offer. Although the semis from the Islamic Republicfound good acceptance among buyers, it will not be easy for the suppliers to maintain their market positionsdue to possible US blockade. On the other hand, alternative sellers, from the CIS in particular, could benefit from theIran issue and gain their presence.
