The Canadian government keeps supporting its steel and aluminum sectors which are key contributors to the Canadian economy, creating well-paying jobs and providing key inputs for major industries.On August 29, Navdeep Bains, minister of innovation, science and economic development, announced CAd 5.7 million ($4.3 million) in federal investment for ten Alberta small- and medium-sized steel and aluminum companies aiming at diversifying their products, improving productivity, and reducing costs. With this funding, delivered by Canada’s regional development agencies, these companies, located in Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Nisku, will be able to design new products, open new facilities, and install advanced manufacturing equipment, Metal Expert learnt.
