EC approves Marcegaglia-evraz plate deal

The European Commission (EC) has cleared a sale of Evraz’s Italian plate division Palini e Bertoli to Marcegaglia as it sees no competition issues.After a month of consideration, the EC approved the purchase of Evraz Palini Ber-toli by Marcegaglia’s Plate division on November 20. “The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns because the companies’ combined share of the market for manufacturing of heavy quarto plates is limited,” according to the release. The deal is expected to be fnalised in early-December, according to sources.
