India to extend mining leases of state-run companies, NMDC to beneft

Indian government changed the mining license regulations to ensure suffcient iron ore supply in the country during the next fnancial year. These changes also make possible the resumption of NMDC’s Donimalai iron ore mine.On September 27, the Indian Ministry of Mines published a note stating that it had made some amendments, according to which all the mining licenses granted to the government companies will be prolonged for up to 20 years, for reasons to be recorded in writing at least 12 months prior to the expiry of the lease, Metal Expert learnt from the document.
