Buckeye offers updated plan for Laurel reversal

After the Public Utility Commission (PUC) of the US state of Pennsylvania issued a 212-page decision that recommended against reversing a segment of Buckeye Partners 330-mile (531-km) Laurel Pipeline, the company has offered an alternative reversal strategy in hopes of pushing the project forward. Buckeye is now proposing making the western half of the pipe-which runs from Altoona, PA, to Coraopolis, PA-bi-directional, which would allow both east- and westbound flows. The midstream firm would install pumps and other equipment that would allow that portion of Laurel to move product in either direction, based on the demand of shippers.
