Argentina, Venezuela to sustain fuel, food trade agreements.

A trade agreement by which Venezuelan PDVSA provides diesel and fuel oil imports to Argentina in exchange for food exports-intended, according to Argentine Planning Minister Julio De Vido, to "[reinforce] the food security of Venezuela and the energy security of Argentina"-will be maintained going forward following recent meetings. Contrary to official suggestions that existing levels of exchange will be maintained, however, an anonymous source at PDVSA has suggested that for the past year, Argentina has been requesting increased diesel shipments, with the source further claiming that an official request for an updated supply contract has been received by the state-owned oil company. Said the source, "We only know general information such as to increase the supply to at least the top of the 35K b/d limit set up in the cooperation agreement and to change the financial conditions."
