While the coronavirus pandemic has impacted almost all aspects of the global economy,European and US brand owners and retailers are continuing to consume higher-cost recycled plastics.In fact,demand in the US for bales of recycled polyethylene terephthalate bottles,which is used as feedstock for recycled polyethylene terephthalate(R-VET)have remained strong,helping keep R-PET flakes at a €100.00($108.66)/mt premium to virgin material at €900.00($977.93)/mt FD NWE.Recycled high-density polyethylene(rHDPE)light-colored pellets were also assessed at a €945.00($1,026.84/mt)FD NWE,a €105.00($114.09)/mt premium to virgin material.By comparison,virgin material was at a €50.00($54.33)/mt premium to rHDPE in Jan.
