On Aug. 5, the judges of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled to hear the opinion of the US Army Corps of Engineers on whether or not the Dakota Access pipeline (DAPL) should be shut down. Despite the ruling, the court is still requiring that an additional environmental review be performed. Meanwhile, Houston-based Crestwood Equity Partners plans to sustain oil and gas output from Bakken and will prepare for a possible closure of the DAPL by making necessary adjustments to its COLT crude-by-rail hub and by making additional connections to its Arrow oil and gas system to accommodate any increased volumes. The COLT facility has 1.2MM bbl in crude storage capacity and 160K b/d in crude-by-rail capacity.
