Russia aims to be key hydrogen supplier to Japan

As Japan plans to add hydrogen import facilities and has ambitious plans to use the alternative fuel by 2050,Russia is now developing its hydrogen economy to make the country a key exporter.On Feb.20,Russia’s Gazprom Neft announced plans to produce hydrogen using NG.Last Sept.,the company announced that it was in discussions to use and storage methane-hydrogen with German’s Uniper.The same month,Rosatom announced a program to produce hydrogen via electrolysis with excess nuclear energy and reached an agreement for a feasibility study with Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy to send hydrogen to the northeast Asian country from 2020-21.In Dec,Energy Minister Alexander Novak announced the formation of a working group to develop a hydrogen energy system in Russia.
