Kumba Iron Ore's Production for 2Q20 Falls 20% Y/Y to 8.48 Mt

Anglo American plc announced on 16th its operational performance for the second quarter (Apr-Jun) as well as the first half (Jan-Jun) of 2020 (2Q20 and 1H20, respectively). The iron ore production of Kumba Iron Ore ("Kumba"), South Africa, for 2Q20 stood at 8.475 million tonnes (Mt), down 19.6% year-on-year (y/y), due to labor shortage resulting from lockdown to control the spread of COVID-19. The work force, once halved, went back to the normal level in June. By mine, the quarterly production of flagship Sishen mine reduced by 20.9% y/y to 5.782 Mt, and that of Kolomela mine also decreased by 16.7% y/y to 2.693 Mt.
