Arch Resources to Downsize Subbituminous and Thermal Coal Business

From now, Arch Resources Inc., USA intends to downsize the subbituminous and thermal coal business in the Powder River Basin (PRB) and Colorado because the coal business integration in the said both areas between the Company and Peabody Energy Corporation fell through. On 19 June 2019, Arch Resources and Peabody Energy announced that they would integrate both companies’ coal businesses in PRB and Colorado. If the coal business integration in PRB and Colorado between Arch Resources and Peabody Energy becomes realty, a giant coal mining company with nearly 200 million tons of coal sales volume will be born. The coal production volume in PRB by the joint venture company set up by both companies will account for about 70% of the total coal production volume in PRB.
