A pharmacist's role cannot be fairly defined

This letter relates to the Your RPS comment piece 'The changing role of the pharmacist in the 21st century' (The Pharmaceutical Journal online, 8 January 2018). It may be tempting to define the role of a pharmacist, but it should be avoided at all costs. Pharmacists work in many areas and defining the role is to diminish it; there is no accurate definition that does justice to all pharmacists. Attempting to define the role could result in an incomplete definition that excludes pharmacists who do not work in traditional roles.
