The effect of environmental factors such as photosynthetic photon flux density, and air and soil temperature on the inherent bioelectric potential of intact jute (cv. JRC 212) plants measured at 2 points 100 cm apart varied between -18 mV at night and 40 mV during midday. The bioelectric potential of the plant was more closely related to soil temperature than air temperature or light intensity.
