Effect of Different Manure Treatment Methods on the Manurial Value of the Farmyard Manure*

The present study was under taken to find out the effect of different treatment methods on the manurial value of the farmyard manure from a dairy farm. The results revealed that the per cent Nitrogen and Potassium content of the manure prepared from improved, vermi-compost and enriched treatment methods were (1.24±0.02 and 1.64±0.02; 1.17±0.02 and 1.57±0.02; 1.18±0.02 and 1.58±0.02 respectively) remained significantly (P<0.01) higher than the conventional manure treatment (1.11±0.02 and 1.51±0.02) from 30 days of decomposition till 120 days of decomposition. The phosphorus content was significantly (P<0.01) higher in enriched, improved and vermicompost method than the conventional treatment method at 90 days of decomposition. It was concluded that the improved, vermicompost and enriched method of manure preparation were found to be better in terms of manure nutrient content.
