We appreciate the authors1 for showing ureteroscopy to be an effective and safe therapeutic option during preg nancy. We would like to highlight certain issues related to stone management and ureteroscopy during pregnancy. For optimal use of ureteroscopy, certain issues such as identifying the role of temporizing procedures, the precise diagnosis of stone/stone bulk, appropriate timing of ureteroscopy (with regard to obstetric complications), and appropriate guidance for the required instrumentation need consideration. Occasional mandatory need for temporizing procedures (double J stent/percutaneous nephrostomy), especially with infection/stone impaction, cannot be denied. In the present series, none of the patients required or were treated with any temporizing procedure because all 6 patients with infection and fever settled with antibiotics only-this may not always be the case.
