While declining to give guidance, Natural Resources PartnersPresident and COO Craig Nunez said that the strong third- andfourth-quarter performance of the partnership’s metallurgicalcoal lessees bodes well for the year ahead.“Our coal segment continues to post solid results on the backof strong demand for metallurgical coal … and a stable marketfor thermal coal,” Nunez said during the company’s earningsconference on Thursday. “Our metallurgical coal assets located inAppalachia accounted for 58% of our coal royalty related revenuesin 2017. Unlike thermal coal, metallurgical coal does not face thethreats posed by environmental regulation … low natural gasprices and renewable power sources.”
