Ukraine boosts coal imports 42.9% in Jan-May to meet growing demand

Ukraine boosted imports of coal, including anthracite, by 42.9%year-on-year to 9.25 million mt in January through May, up from 6.47million mt a year ago, the state fiscal service reported Friday.Most of the coal imports, 66.2%, came from Russia, but also fromthe U.S. (27.5%) and Canada (3.9%), according to the service.In May alone, Ukraine imported 1.82 million mt of coal, includinganthracite, compared with 1.64 million mt imported in May 2017.
