The gap between Australian premium metallurgical coal andlower priced US East Coast grades in the Atlantic basin narrowedWednesday as Chinese and Asia-Pacific spot demand weakens.In the US, tight supplies for January and February laycans for highvolatilityand some low-vol grades, along with for Alabama coal, limitedthe degree of spot price erosion through February.US coal can be delivered to buyers in the region in less than half thetime of Australian cargoes.
