Argentina’s Oil Combustibles buys crude cargo

Blyton, England-Oil Combustibles, a leading oil refiner in Argentina, has purchased a shipment of crude oil from Norway’s Statoil, buying it time to press forward on bankruptcy proceedings and a possible partnership with Russia’s Lukoil, a company spokesman said Thursday. The refiner purchased a cargo of 283,000 barrels of crude to process at its 50,300 b/d refinery in San Lorenzo, Santa Fe province, the spokesman said on the condition of not being named, citing company policy. The deal gives the company time to continue negotiations in court to pull out of bankruptcy, the uncertainty of which has made it harder to finance purchases from domestic crude suppliers. Its traditional suppliers are Chevron and Argentina’s Pampa Energia and state-run YPF.
