IEA sees end to European oil demand jump

London—The International Energy Agency does not expect the recent strong growth in European oil demand to be sustained in the medium term given that about 150,000 b/d of recent consumption growth has been due to lower oil prices, senior IEA analyst Christophe Barret said Tuesday. The IEA has made upward tweaks to its 2018 European oil demand numbers in each of its last three monthly oil market reports, alongside revisions to global demand, in the process diverging from its five-year demand forecast published in March.
