Iraq expands Kirkuk refinery, plans new 70,000 b/d facility

Dubai-Iraq’s state-owned North Refineries Co., or NRC, has completed the installation of a new 10,000 b/d crude distillation unit at the Kirkuk refinery taking total refining capacity at the northern Iraqi city to 40,000 b/d, the oil ministry said Wednesday. The new unit will play an important role in covering local demand for refined products, such as kerosene and fuel oil, oil minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said in a statement Wednesday.
