Turkey announces new mediterranean drilling program

Istanbul-Turkey announced plans on Saturday to conduct shallow water and deepwater drill- ing in the Mediterranean, raising concerns over a fresh political spat over exploration in con- tested waters off Cyprus. Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey plans to lease a second deepwater drillship, in addition to the Deepsea Metro 2, which Turkey’s state upstream operator Turkish Petroleum (TP) took delivery of in December last year.
