London—UK oil and gas minnow Parkmead said Nov. 20 it had made “further advances” in plans to develop the Greater Perth oil cluster in the North Sea, a potential boost for Forties crude production, adding talks were underway with China’s CNOOC and other possible partners. Parkmead, which derives all its current production from low-cost gas fields in the Dutch portion of the North Sea, said in a statement it was in commercial discussions with CNOOC on terms for tying the potential Greater Perth development into the Chinese company’s Scott platform. The latter supplies the Forties crude stream from the Scott and Telford fields, which have recently been producing at a combined rate of around 12,000 b/d of oil.
