Michigan court rules Enbridge can restart only western leg of Line 5 pipeline

Houston—A Michigan county court ruled July 1 that Enbridge can restart the western leg of its Line 5 NGL and crude oil pipeline but the damaged eastern leg must remain closed pending further investigation. Enbridge previously restarted the western line of the dual-pipeline system but it was ordered shut on June 25 by Ingham County Circuit Court Judge James Jamo after Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Attorney General Dana Nessel sought a temporary injunction seeking to have both legs of the pipeline shut for safety concerns.
