Algeria appoints ex-Sonatrach CEO as energy minister in cabinet reshuffle

London-Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has appointed the former CEO of state-run energy firm Sonatrach as energy minister in a cabinet reshuffle, state-run news agency APS reported June 23. Abdelmadjid Attar will replace Mohamed Arkab, who was named mining minister, APS said. Attar held the position of CEO of Sonatrach from 1997-99 after having spent more than 19 years at the company, according to his LinkedIn profile.
