China Shanxi Luneng JinbeiAluminium has reduced the alumina productionrate at its 2.6 million mt/year aluminarefinery in the province by 10,000 mt/monthin August on bauxite supply concerns, acompany source told S&P Global Platts onAugust 17.“We were operating at a rate of 2.85million mt/year earlier, exceeding designcapacity, which means around 237,500 mt/month. But our target for August is 227,500mt/month now, mainly because ofanticipated bauxite mine shutdowns in thenear term,” the source said.
