European Aluminium calls on EU Commission to help create level playing field

European Aluminium has called on the European Commission to address the harmful effects of Chinese subsidies on Europe’s aluminum industry to help create a level playing field. The association said June 17 that the European aluminum industry was under pressure from “unfairly subsidized” Chinese aluminum, with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) finding in a recent report that 85% of about $70 billion invested in aluminum companies over the 2013-17 period going to just five Chinese companies.
