Ukraine’s H1 2019 bauxite imports up 11.3% on year

Kiev—Ukraine’s bauxite imports increased 11.3% year on year to 2.56 million mt in the January-June period, compared with 2.3 million mt imported a year ago, the state customs service reported Thursday. The value of bauxite imports soared 22.6% to $112.7 million from $91.9 million in January- June 2018, the customs service said. In the first six months, Ukraine received 57.1% of bauxite imports from Guinea, 37.5% from Guyana and 2.6% from Brazil. Last year, Ukraine also imported bauxite from the same countries at similar, respective levels.
