Alcoa, Parter reach accord on spanish aluminum smelters’ future

Madrid—Aluminum producer Alcoa and Swiss private equity firm Parter Capital Group have reached a pre-agreement regarding the sale and continued operation of Alcoa’s two aluminum smelters at Aviles and Corunna, Spain’s Industry Ministry an- nounced Tuesday. The Swiss group was due to present the industrial plan for both plants to the Ministry and the governments of both regions Tuesday and the provisional agreement will be presented to the working group on June 20, according to Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo.
