A recent bibliometric study showed thatIndian researchers in the subject area ofchemistry published their best researchin foreign journals. The quantificationof how the 'best' work is shared betweeninternational journals and Indian nationaljournals was performed using an exergyparameter which has been recently introduced. It is believed that exergy, whichis an energy-like term obtained from theproduct of impact (i = C/P, which is aquality term) and citations C (a term thathas both quality and quantity attributes)is the best single, scalar indicator of scientific effort. In this note, we follow up the previouspreliminary study by examining the trendsin other disciplines as well, and alsothe publication patterns across leadingresearch institutions and agencies in thecountry.
