Borealis Makes FID to Move Forward With 'World-Scale' PDH Unit in Kallo

Antwerp- Borealis announced a final investment decision (FID) to build a new "world-scale" propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant at its existing production site in Kallo, Belgium (PCN, 19. Feb 2018, pi). The PDH unit, which will be based on Honeywell UOP's Oleflex technology, will have a targeted production capacity of 750,000 t/y. It will be "one of the largest and most efficient" facilities in the world, the company noted. Startup is scheduled for the first half of 2022.
