Pollution primarily affects our skin because it is particularly exposed and offers a large and sensitive surface. The best strategy is to stop polluting molecules at first contact with the skin barrier. Thus, a simple and immediate approach to pollution control consists in either directly reducing the adhesion of pollutant particles or preventing reactions with pollutants that induce the production of undesirable molecules.
