Atlantic coking coal prices fall with movements in Asia

US metallurgical coal prices fellWednesday alongside downward movementin Asian markets.Spot volumes in the Atlantic continued tobe limited due to low demand and tight supply,but a steelmaker felt that miners who havesold well have closed their books for the year.Having seen offers for long-term fixedprice contracts, a mill source felt that highvol coal prices would fall in the new year. Thesame mill had also seen offers for Q1 2019high vol B coals below S&P Global Platts’ indexbut had not booked at these levels, expectingbetter value to be found, which means levelsas low as $120/mt could be seen in 2019.
