Asia met coal prices hold firm; buyers need time to digest price rally

Singapore—Metallurgical coal prices found a firm foothold after two weeks of rallying with sellers waiting for buyers to digest recent price hikes. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol up 50 cents/mt on the day at $133.75/mt FOB Australia and CFR China unchanged at $142.50/mt on Sept. 22. The spot market saw thin trading but there was still some demand to be filled in China before the Golden Week holidays, market sources said.
