Met coal PLV FOB moves lower; trade thin

Singapore—The spot metallurgical coal market saw scant liquidity Monday that left FOB Australia prices softer, but CFR China was unchanged as Chinese buy- and sellside sources retreated from the spot market. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol down 50 cents/mt at $152/mt FOB Australia, and the PLV CFR China steady at $163/mt Monday. A trade was concluded Saturday for 75,000 mt of an Australian Premium Mid Vol Goonyella at $149/mt FOB Australia with end-February laycan. This was sold with seller’s option to deliver either Goonyella C or Riverside at $148/mt with the same volume and laycan.
