AM/NS wins approval to develop Odisha iron ore block

Singapore-India's ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel or AM/NS has received environmental approval to develop the Ghoraburhani-Sagasahi iron ore block in Odisha, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change documents showed June 23, enabling the steelmaker to take a step forward in ensuring raw material security. Ghoraburhani-Sagasahi has estimated reserves of 99.59 million mt and was expected to provide at least half the annual requirements of the company's 6 million mt/year pelletization plant at Paradip, with initial mine extraction estimated at 7.16 million mt/year, according to the documents.
