Turkish import scrap prices edge up on ex-North America deals

London—Deepsea Turkish import scrap prices edged upwards June 2, as Turkish mills continued buying activity, with fresh ex-North America and Baltic deals heard. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $254.50/mt CFR June 2, up 50 cents/mt on day, and up $3.25/mt on week from May 26. A US-origin sale totaling 30,000 mt to an Iskenderun mill was heard booked June 2, with 21,000 mt HMS 1/2 (90:10) at $259/mt CFR, 4,000 mt shredded scrap at $261/mt CFR, and 5,000 mt P&S scrap at $266/ mt CFR. The latest shipment date cited was July 25, with the deal confirmed by the buyer.
