EU carbon prices lift on reduced auction volume

London—EU carbon allowance prices gained ground Monday during a week of reduced auction supply and amid bullish sentiment in the wider commodity and financial markets. EU Allowance futures contracts for December 2020 delivery on the ICE Futures Europe exchange rose as high as Eur20.17/mt ($21.54/mt) Monday, compared with Eur19.17/mt at the close Friday. “Both the lower auction volume and good news on COVID-19 has had an impact,” said lead EU carbon analyst Jahn Olsen at Bloomberg NEF.
