The seaborne iron ore market rose sharply Thursday, on supply concerns after Vale declared force majeure on a number of related iron ore and pellets sales contracts Tuesday as a result of the temporary suspension of the 30 million mt/ year Brucutu mine production in Brazil. S&P Global Platts assessed the 62% Fe Iron Ore Index at $90.50/dry mt CFR North China, up $3.85/dmt from Monday. The February TSI swap rose to a four-year high of $90.10/dmt Thursday.
