Vale ordered to suspend Guaiba port terminal activities

Vale has received a notice from the Mangaratiba city government in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro state, ordering the temporary suspension of port activities at the Guaiba Island Terminal (TIG), the company said. The Mangaratiba city government alleged irregularities in the iron ore port’s environmental compliance documentation, according to press reports. “Vale confirms that it has all the required licenses for the regular operation of the terminal, issued by the competent authorities and, accordingly, it will take all appropriate measures to ensure the reestablishment of its activities at TIG,” the company said Monday.
