High-vol A met coal hit by APAC premium HCC August offers

London—Atlantic met coal markets took on board steeply lower offers for premium HCC in the Asia-Pacific Monday, with no demand or offers for US coals reported. A seasonal lull in purchasing for Europe, and limited spot opportunities in Brazil and elsewhere limited regional support against a sustained decline in pricing for FOB cargo out of Australia. The effect of port import restrictions in China may reduce volumes into the main spot market for the second half of 2019, with Australian shipments already growing strongly into China, based on more recent customs data.
