Turkish mills scrap imports hit 15 million mt in Jan-Sep

Turkish mills booked 14.93 million mt of scrap from their global suppliers in the first three quarters of the year, marking a notable 15.5% rise on last year, according to the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data sent to S&P Global Platts Wednesday. This was in line with the sharp increase in Turkey's electric arc furnace-based crude steel output during the same period, with the support of higher domestic long product demand, especially in the third quarter of the year, industry sources observed.
