Russian steel producers were trying to push for rebar price hikes in the domestic market to bring the prices closer to export levels, but the looming seasonal slowdown in demand was raising questions whether higher prices could be sustained, sources said Oct. 16. A longs producer noted that the new rebar offers went up to Ruble 41,000/mt ($526/mt) CPT Moscow with 20% VAT, up from Ruble 40,000 mt ($513/mt). This was confirmed by a couple of buyers.
