摘要

In an earlier work, we have proposed an intermodal dispersion free quadruple mode fiber which has a composite refractive index profile. It is an emerging intermodal dispersion free fiber. An appropriate V parameter is chosen for this fiber at which it is operated and this should be below the cut-off V value of the 5th LP mode. It is observed that the order of appearance of the modes above the 4th mode is extremely sensitive to the profile parameters. A thorough investigation on order of appearance of the modes has been reported in the present work for an optical fiber having composite refractive index profile. Such a study is important to design the intermodal dispersion free quadruple mode fiber for use as a transmission medium and in other optical fiber devices.
