Gulfport Names Former Murphy Boss New CEO

Oklahoma-based producer Gulfport Energy has named former Murphy Oil boss David Wood as its new CEO after its previous leader was caught using a company credit card for personal expenditures. Wood, who comes to Gulfport with some four decades of industry experience, has held many top positions at oil and gas companies. He most recently was the chairman of the board of West Virginia-focused Arsenal Resources, a portfolio company of First Reserve. Prior to that, Wood served as a senior adviser to the energy-focused private-equity firm.
