US, Mexico, Canada Ink Trade Deal, Hurdles Remain

The leaders of US, Canada and Mexico signed a tripartite deal Friday to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement. US President Donald Trump’s harsh criticism of the original deal, which went into effect in 1994, had thrown uncertainty over trade in North America. Still, that uncertainty is not entirely resolved: The three countries’ legislatures will have to ratify the agreement, and that’s not guaranteed to happen (OD Nov.21’18).
