Royal Dutch Shell has joined a slew of international oil companies that have opened service stations in Mexico this year after the government liberalized the downstream sector and began freeing retail fuel prices. On Tuesday, Shell opened its first Mexican retail outlet, in the city of Tlalnepantla near Mexico City, as part of a plan that the company says could see it invest $1 billion in logistics and distribution over the next decade.
