Eni on Wednesday expressed "total confidence" that CEO Claudio Descalzi was not involved in alleged corrupt conduct in Nigeria's oil sector after Italian prosecutors reportedly asked for him to stand trial. The oil major was forced to make a statement following reports that Descalzi and former CEO Paolo Scaroni, among others, had been charged with corruption in relation to Eni's acquisition of Nigeria's ultra - deepwater block OPL 245 with Royal Dutch Shell in 2011.
